5. Scott Brooks win Coach of the Month in February

Head coach Scott Brooks had quite the month in February without John Wall in the rotation. In the middle of a tough push to the playoffs, Brooks used time without Wall to develop guys like Tomas Satoransky and Kelly Oubre Jr., and it paid off as the team went 8-4.

The Wizards secured victories over the Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers and Milwaukee Bucks (all playoff teams) without their All-Star point guard in the month of February. Satoransky averaged 11.8 points, 5.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds in place of Wall. He showed off his efficiency as a shooter, shooting 60.2 percent from the floor and 55.6 percent from 3-point land.

Satoransky put up a career-high 25 points on 10-of-12 shooting from the field (83.3 percent) against the Chicago Bulls on Feb. 10. He was also 50for-6 from 3-point range. It was the most 3-pointers he’s made in his two-year career.

The Wizards have weapons at their disposal, it’s up to Brooks to use them correctly. Satoransky’s emergence was a surprise but it shouldn’t be taken for granted going forward, as Wall and Beal played way too many minutes down the stretch.
