6. Washington wins five straight games

The Washington Wizards were without John Wall from Jan. 27 until March 29. He was sidelined for roughly two months before returning for good to shake off pre-playoff rust

With Wall sidelined, it seemed the skeptics were out. Many considered the 2017-18 season a disaster in the making without Wall, but the Wizards did some good things during his extended absence. From Jan. 27-Feb. 5, Washington went on a five-game winning streak.

They beat the Atlanta Hawks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Toronto Raptors, Orlando Magic and Indiana Pacers in consecutive games to get February off to a roaring start. It marked the second time during the regular season that Wall was sidelined for an extended amount of time.

The Wizards got off to a hot start in Wall’s absence, proving a point to optimists everywhere. Beal averaged 21.0 points, 6.2 assists and 4.8 rebounds per game as the team’s playmaker in the backcourt. He showed off his ability to adjust without Wall on the floor.

Another player who excelled in Wall’s absence was Tomas Satoransky. He put up 9.8 points, 5.8 assists and 3.2 rebounds in 25.2 minutes per game during the winning streak.

As far as Scott Brooks goes, it was his second Coach of the Month award with the Wizards and fifth award overall as a head coach.
