7. Porter opens up against the Rockets

Otto Porter’s emergence as a high-paid star in the NBA went about as expected on this Washington Wizards roster. With John Wall on the floor, it seems Porter’s contributions tended to fluctuate, but that should hopefully change this offseason.

Porter put up 26 points against the Houston Rockets this season behind a career-high seven made 3-pointers back on Dec. 29. He also attempted a career-high 11 3-pointers. Considering how often the Wizards’ offense disappeared late in games, Porter is one guy they will need to look to this summer to find his own shot.

The Wizards beat the Rockets to hand them their fifth straight loss at the time, 121-103. Porter also had seven assists and six rebounds, showing off his versatility in more ways than one against a top team in the West. They’ve got something to build on with Porter, they just need to nurture and develop him accordingly.

Porter made seven 3-pointers twice in 2017-18 — once against the Rockets and once earlier in the season against the Golden State Warriors in a 120-117 loss. Washington was outscored 33-20 in the fourth quarter of that contest.
