8. Beal goes for 51 points

Bradley Beal had quite the resume this season in the scoring department. He set a new career-high in points this season (51) against the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 5 in a 106-92 victory.

Head coach Scott Brooks didn’t get too creative when the time came for John Wall to sit his second stint of games during the regular season. Whereas most coaches will just apply the “Next Man Up” mentality, Brooks simply relied on Beal to carry more of the load.

Beal attempted 37 shots against Portland in his 51-point performance. He was 21-for-37 (56.8 percent) from the floor and 5-for-12 (41.7 percent) from behind the arc. The rest of the starting five shot 7-for-30 (23.3 percent) from the field, so imagine what the results would have been without Beal’s play.

Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mike Scott combined for 24 points off the bench to at least attempt to give some balance to the scoring attack. For Beal’s efforts, the field goals made (21) and attempted (37) were also both career-highs for him.
