9. Washington wins without Wall

The Washington Wizards knew early in the season something wasn’t right when John Wall was sidelined on Nov. 5 with lingering knee issues. It was the first time all season Washington went without Wall in the rotation and ironically, faced the Toronto Raptors.

The Wizards won 107-96 behind a big 38-point performance from Bradley Beal. It was the second 30-point game of the season for him, as he had scored 36 points and 40 points in the previous two games (despite losing those contests).

Against the Raptors, Beal was an efficient 16-for-26 (61.5 percent ) from the floor and 4-for-6 from 3-point range. Behind him was Porter who put up 19 points on 8-for-13 shooting from the floor. Porter also had five rebounds in the game.

It was a good test for the team and foreshadowed things to come during the regular season. Porter’s emergence was up and down in 2017-18, but a lot of it had to do with Wall’s presence on the court.
