Charlotte Hornets: 5 biggest disappointments from 2017-18 NBA season
3. Michael Carter-Williams
The best thing for the Charlotte Hornets and Michael Carter-Williams to do at this point is part ways. MCW had another down year in his fifth season in the league, and it’s lucky for Charlotte he’s only on a one-year deal.
He signed with the Hornets this past offseason in hopes of improving their backcourt. He averaged 4.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.2 assists in 52 appearances (two starts) for the club. His shooting continues to be in a decline as he shot just 33.2 percent from the field and 23.7 percent from 3-point range.
MCW has become something of a journeyman in his five-year career in the NBA. The Charlotte Hornets are the fourth stop for the former 11th overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft. He turned in the worst production of his career. By March, MCW was eventually lost to season-ending shoulder surgery. He’ll be an unrestricted free agent in the offseason.
