The Indiana Pacers just completed a fairy tale season in 2017-18. Here are five takeaways from this year that they need to think about heading into the summer.

Want to see a grown man squeal like a schoolgirl?

Simple: Invent a time machine, go back six months, and tell Indiana Pacers general manager Kevin Pritchard that his team would push the defending Eastern Conference champs to seven games in a playoff series, outscoring them by 40 points in the process.

Want to see him dance too? Throw in that the two leading scorers in the matchup were the two players he acquired in the Paul George trade (the one that had us all calling for his head after it was made).

Yes, as the Indiana Pacers wake up this morning, there is still more than a twinge of disappointment about the way the season ended over the weekend. They lost to a team that was not only deeply flawed, but that probably got lucky to escape with at least two of their four victories in the series.

It doesn’t change the fact that the Pacers exceeded everyone’s wildest expectations. With that as the backdrop, let’s take a look at the five biggest takeaways from their dream season in 2017-18.
