Final grade

There was much to like about what Evan Fournier did for the Orlando Magic this season, but those bright spots didn’t happen consistently enough — so much so that trading him at some point in the future may not be out of the question either. After all, Fournier was an addition by the previous front office. This new front office wants to make serious changes.

While he’s a member of the Magic though, there’s no question he’s one of their more important players, and a definite starter when healthy.

But with Aaron Gordon taking a step forward, Jonathan Isaac showing plenty of potential and Khem Birch the surprise package for this team, is there a sense Fournier could get left behind?

The fact that’s even up for discussion tells you all you need to know about where he is with this team right now. He’s the best offensive player the Magic have got when he’s feeling it, but is also being a non-factor defensively.

There were certainly worse Magic performers throughout the year, but after a strong start Fournier was simply there. Orlando needs more than that moving forward.
