Dallas Mavericks: 5 biggest disappointments from 2017-18 NBA season
The Dallas Mavericks had one of their worst seasons since 1996-97 and it was a season with a few disappointments to go with it.
The Dallas Mavericks finished the 2017-18 season with a 24-58 record. They finished with nine less wins than they did in 2016-17, when they finished 33-49. After missing the postseason for the second straight season, Dallas has some work to do.
The Mavericks didn’t have many highlights during this past season but they had their fair share of lowlights. It looks like their search for a big man will continue after the Nerlens Noel experiment fell apart halfway through.
Noel will be one of four unrestricted free agents off the books for Dallas this offseason. It will be an interesting offseason for their organization after a few gambles didn’t quite work out. They will have some cap space to work with as well as a lottery pick so recovering shouldn’t be too difficult.
The season-ending injury to Seth Curry was another lowlight for a budding sharpshooter finding his stride in the league. Curry was set to play a key role in the Dallas Mavericks rotation in 2017-18 before going down with a stress fracture in his left leg.
That’s just a glimpse of some of the disappointments from the most recent campaign. Here’s a look at the five biggest disappointments from the 2017-18 season.
