Biggest Disappointment: Cristiano Felicio

Cristiano Felicio was an unknown before joining the Bulls prior to the 2015-16 campaign, but following a season in which he posted averages of 4.8 points and 4.7 rebounds per outing, the Bulls signed him to a four-year deal at a $32 million price tag.

The generous contract was based on the belief that Felicio would continue to improve as he became more comfortable with the NBA game. During the first half of the season though, it appeared the Bulls were experiencing a bit of buyer’s remorse. In fact, Felicio was playing so poorly that Fred Hoiberg sat him out 26 games going into the All-Star break.

The only saving grace for Felicio was the front office forcing Hoiberg to play with a variety of different lineups during the second half of the season. With a new lease on his NBA life, Felicio made 16 starts, posting averages of 9.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest on 60.6 percent shooting from the field.

Those numbers favorably compare to his production when he comes off the bench (4.1 points and 3.2 rebounds per contest). While Felicio did manage to eventually turn his season around, he didn’t take the next leap that everyone was expecting.

Here’s to hoping that he gets off to be a better start next season.
