Brooklyn Nets rookie Jarrett Allen had quite an impressive inaugural season in the NBA. Here is an in-depth analysis of his strengths, weaknesses and overall grade for his first campaign.

What a whirlwind a young person’s life can be. Just 10 months after being drafted 22nd overall by the Brooklyn Nets, Jarrett Allen has made strides as big as his physical frame allows for.

Considered a lottery-level prospect by many, Allen was a can’t-miss opportunity for the Nets to pounce on at No. 22. His Slenderman-esque frame was the main attraction, as it gave the foundation for a rim-running and rim-protecting big man.

It’s not difficult to imagine Allen evolving into the mold of a player like Clint Capela. Just like Allen, Capela was a long, raw, gigantic presence out of the draft. The vertical threat these kinds of players impose on defenses mustn’t be undervalued.

Allen gradually worked his way into a starting role, and was forcefully thrown into the fire after the Tyler Zeller trade. He had a few blunders along the way, but for the most part, Allen had a great rookie season.
