Boston Celtics: 3 takeaways from Game 7 vs. Bucks
2. Boston’s offense comes alive
After scoring just 96 points on 37 percent shooting in their Game 6 defeat, the Celtics put on an offensive showcase in Game 7, finishing with 112 points on 53.6 percent shooting from the field in the win.
Without Kyrie Irving, who contributed 24.4 points a night during the regular season, and without another consistent high-volume scoring option, Boston’s ability to score would be sporadic at times.

Their defense has been one of the main reasons for their success this season, as it’s allowed them to claw their way back from what seemed like insurmountable deficits. Brad Stevens has a roster full of blue-collar, hard-working guys who would dive into the stands just to get an extra possession, and those guys have gotten key stops time and time again.
With a defense that doesn’t rely on any one person, it’s safe to assume that defensive effort will be consistent more often than not as the playoffs progress.
The key for the Celtics is their offense, as it turns them into a true two-way terror for opponents. Boston’s ability to put up points in bunches will only make the defense better by taking some of the pressure off that end of the floor.
It will also allow them to remain competitive in games moving forward, as the deeper they go into the playoffs, the better their matchups will be on both sides of the floor.
