2. Injuries

A lot went wrong for the Wizards in the injury department this season. It was announced prior to the game that Otto Porter Jr. was out indefinitely due to a bone bruise on his left leg. Porter played 30 minutes in Washington’s 108-98 loss in Game 5. With no mention prior to the game of any such injury, so it’s safe to assume he suffered the injury during Game 5.

Porter’s absence put a huge hole in Washington’s 3-point shooting production. He was shooting 41.7 percent from 3-point range entering Friday night’s game, ranked fourth on the team. So in place of Porter, more minutes went to Ty Lawson and Tomas Satoransky.

Lawson finished with six points and three rebounds. Satoransky finished with two points and a rebound. Both players went a combined 0-for-2 from 3-point range.

Then there were the 41 games missed by John Wall. Wall still averaged 26.0 points, 11.5 assists, 5.7 assists, 2.3 steals and 1.3 blocks per game in the playoffs but his shot from 3 was off. He shot 37.1 percent from 3-point range in the season but 19 percent in the postseason, possibly a lingering effect of his knee injury.
