2018 NBA Draft: Top 60 big board prospect placement discussion
By Connor Harr
Troy Brown, SF — Oregon (No. 30)
Troy Brown was an enticing prospect coming into the season. He’s a 6’7″ point forward archetype and his versatility appeared enticing. It still is very enticing, but Brown’s a lot less developed offensively and probably a little less gifted athletically than others anticipated.
He shows some passing vision, but still has a long way to go as a decision-maker. As previously mentioned in my mock draft, you’re probably looking at one of his best-case scenario outcomes becoming an Evan Turner kind of player. However, he still has a long way to go to achieve that outcome.
Chandler Hutchison, SG/SF — Boise State (No. 35)
Dubbed the Kyle Kuzma of the 2018 NBA Draft way too early, it is time to cool off on Chandler Hutchison. He is not a safe bet shooter and I wonder just how valuable an average handle and strong finishing ability works without a jump shot as an off ball player. There is a chance Hutchison shoots, but then you wonder how well he is going to be able to get to the rim and finish without high quality speed. There’s a chance Hutchison puts it all together, but there are quite a few question marks.
Jevon Carter, PG — West Virginia (No. 51)
Carter had a phenomenal senior year and I do not want to take anything away from him. He is a fabulous defender and that likely will land him on a roster somewhere, but I am struggling to figure out where he fits in offensively.

With Carter being in such a ball-dominant offensive role over the years and not possessing the greatest handle, he will have to find a new role to fit in offensively. This new role will rely on him being a knockdown shooter, which I am not sold on despite his 3-point percentage (particularly off the catch) on low volume from NBA range.
