Jontay Porter, C — Missouri (No. 12)

Jontay Porter is highly ranked by many people, but others see his athletic limitations as a reason to make him a late first round selection. Personally, I think if you believe Porter can be a 5-man in the league, he will be a huge matchup problem offensively.

At his size he has enough speed and handling ability to attack a closeout from a fellow big man. He’s also capable of pulling a rim protector away from the hoop with the threat of his shot, shooting 36 percent from the 3-point line at Missouri. Also, it is worth noting that Jontay is one of the youngest players in the class at 18 years old and has not even reached his half-birthday yet.

William McDowell-White, PG — Australia (No. 28)

This is a much higher ranking than most for McDowell-White. I will have a sole piece coming out on him in the future that will explain my further thoughts of him. However, I do value safety on my board, which is why Jalen Brunson is so high as well. I firmly believe McDowell-White will be a long-term point guard.

Bruce Brown, SG — Miami (No. 25)

Despite popular belief, I thought Bruce Brown had a good season for being injury-plagued all year and forced to be the team’s lead ball-handler. He actually improved as a playmaker even though he struggled to score the ball. He’s a little small for a wing, but is very strong and has the body and length to become a multi-positional defender on lead guards and smaller wings. I’m betting on the development of Brown’s shot to have him this high, but his form is far from broken.
