Portland Trail Blazers: 2017-18 player grades for C.J. McCollum
By Ty Delbridge
Highlights
Even though it was a disappointing end to the season for the Blazers, McCollum still had a great year and produced many highlight performances.
In this game against the Bulls, McCollum scored 50 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished two assists in 29 minutes of play while shooting 18-of-25 (72 percent) from the field and 6-of-9 from the 3-point line. McCollum started the game hot and just never cooled down till he finally was taken out of the game. He didn’t play any fourth quarter minutes, but it would have been fun to see how many points he could have scored.
Against the Memphis Grizzlies, without Lillard, McCollum scored 42 points, dished five assists and grabbed three rebounds in 37 minutes of play while shooting 16-of-25 from the field and 3-of-7 from the 3-point line. The Blazers lost this game, and it was the second night of a back-to-back, but that makes it even more impressive that he was able to score that much.
Against the Oklahoma City Thunder, McCollum scored 34 points, pulled down four rebounds and handed out four assists in 37 minutes of action while shooting 14-of-24 from the field and 5-of-9 from the 3-point line.
He scored 14 points in the fourth quarter and hit tough shot after tough shot down the stretch, including the game-winner with less than 20 seconds left in the game.
Even though it was a rough series against the Pelicans, McCollum was not going down without a fight. In Game 4, McCollum scored 38 points, dished three assists and grabbed two rebounds in 45 minutes of action while shooting 15-of-22 from the field and 2-of-3 percent from the 3-point line.
Finally, we couldn’t leave this one out: In a game against the Orlando Magic, McCollum showed he isn’t one to back down from anyone and got into it with Evan Fournier. While the two were exchanging words, McCollum called him soft and blew kisses at him.
