Orlando Magic: 2017-18 player grades for Aaron Gordon
By Luke Duffy
Highlights
The way Gordon started the season encapsulated the brief, feel-good energy that surrounded the Magic for a minute.
They began the season 6-2, with Gordon posting 41 points and 14 rebounds in only their fourth game of the season, a win over the Brooklyn Nets.
Gordon also scored at least 10 points in the first 39 games that he played in, before that streak ended with a nine-point outing in a loss to the New York Knicks in late February.
Other offensive outbursts included 39 points against the Miami Heat and 30 against the Cleveland Cavaliers, both coming in losses after the turn of the year.
It would have been nice to see Gordon enter the Slam Dunk Contest again so that he could finally go on and win it, but injury denied him that opportunity.
The fact he tailed off as the regular season came to a close wasn’t as impressive, but the team was in full on tank mode by that point anyway.
When the Magic were still trying to win games to improve their position in the Eastern Conference, Gordon was the player that stepped up most frequently. His continued ability to dunk and create wow moments was also badly needed around the Amway Center, and once more Gordon dutifully provided.
