3. Dion Waiters wasn’t available

After posting averages of 14.4 points per game in 30 games, guard Dion Waiters was shut down in January following a season-ending ankle surgery.

Waiters is the type of player that doesn’t lack in confidence, and it’s that belief in his own abilities that allows him to go toe-to-toe with any and all NBA superstars.

While his abilities certainly don’t compare to the likes of LeBron James or Kevin Durant, Waiters will nonetheless compete with those guys for the full 48 minutes, and sometimes that’s all you can ask from an athlete: to compete at the highest level with everything they can.

A native of Philadelphia, Waiters would’ve relished at the opportunity to play in front of friends and family under the bright playoff lights.

More importantly, he would’ve loved to show the NBA world that he deserves to be mentioned among the NBA’s elite. Is that true? Probably not, but Miami could’ve certainly benefited from his scoring abilities whenever Philadelphia widened the gap. Speaking of which…
