3. Getting fleeced in the New Orleans deal

While many will contend that the Bulls didn’t get fleeced in the deal, the bottom line is a bird in the hand is worth more than two in the bush.

The Bulls gave up a proven defensive player with a sweet 3-point stroke in Nikola Mirotic and got back zero actual proven assets outside of Jameer Nelson. They waived Tony Allen, Omer Asik has little left to contribute and the first round pick from New Orleans, while valuable, is still a large question mark as far as what player will be available at No. 22, and if that player will even pan out.

Meanwhile, Mirotic has been playing like an absolute beast as a key element to the New Orleans Pelicans‘ impressive run to the Western Conference semifinals.

Although the Bulls got a lot of pieces, some with potential, the bottom line is they gave up something for potentially very little, and that is a disappointment.
