The San Antonio Spurs needed to win Game 5 in Oakland for the series to stay alive. Unfortunately for the silver and black, the Golden State Warriors were too good.

Game 5 started disastrously for the San Antonio Spurs. The Golden State Warriors went on a 9-0 run before the Spurs got their first bucket. They then went on an 8-0 run, getting to within one. The quarter ended with the Spurs down by two, 22-20.

Unfortunately for the sake of the series, the Warriors then dominated the second quarter, outscoring the Spurs 27-18 and giving themselves an 11-point lead at the half.

The rest of the game was tight with the Spurs winning the second half 53-50, but it was not enough. The Warriors advanced to the second round, knocking the Spurs out 4-1.

LaMarcus Aldridge was huge Tuesday night. He was smothered in the first half, but kept his scoring ticking over by making it to the line 14 times. Like the true star he is, he made all of them and finished the night with 30 points and 12 rebounds.

Patty Mills was huge in the first half, trying to take the scoring load. He would finish the night with 18 points to be the second-leading scorer for the Spurs. Mills was also the only Spurs player to make more than one 3-point shot on the night, finishing 4-of-10 from deep.

However, it was on the defensive end the Spurs needed to change things up. This begins our three takeaways for Game 5.
