Sixth Man of the Year: Tyreke Evans

Yay, technicalities! Tyreke Evans would have probably started more than 41 games had he played the whole season, but he only played 52 games and had 32 starts, so we’re just going to say he is eligible for the award. He is an obvious winner here in Memphis.

Evans was in the conversation for Sixth Man of the Year in the whole league before Lou Williams took off as a borderline All-Star. He was keeping the Grizzlies afloat sans Mike Conley when this team was trying to win, and the league was taking notice.

Williams was better over the course of the year, but for the Memphis Grizzlies, the vote is unanimous. Evans led the team with 19.4 points per game and was one of the best distributors as well. He took care of the ball better than he has in the past two seasons, and his jolt of shot creation, for both himself and others, kept the Grizzlies’ second units humming.

This is an easy award recipient, and Reke may just pop up again.
