Brooklyn Nets: 5 goals for the 2018 offseason

2. Make a decision about Spencer Dinwiddie
Guard Spencer Dinwiddie is a captivating player. His savvy passing instincts and clutch performances have enthralled fans across the NBA world.
However, his future with the Nets is in flux. His coexistence with fellow guard Russell has been mostly disappointing; in the 355 minutes the two guards played with each other, they were outscored by 11.0 points per 100 possessions.
As a backup game-manager, Dinwiddie would be just fine. However, he will almost certainly warrant more minutes and cap space than that would allow for.
He is a free agent next summer, which makes this offseason a prime chance to get value for him if the team is set on building around DLo. He’s also on the veteran’s minimum, making his contract one of the best bargains in the association.
If the team intends to deploy the DLo-Dinwiddie hydra and see how high it can fly, so be it. The front office must gauge if the return for him (likely a late first round pick at best) will suffice for the loss of a legitimate point guard.
