Minnesota Timberwolves: 3 takeaways from Game 4 vs. Rockets
The Minnesota Timberwolves were not able to come away with a win in Game 4. Here’s three takeaways from Monday night’s action.
The Minnesota Timberwolves came away with a surprise victory on Saturday night in Game 3 against the Houston Rockets. This was after a disappointing first two losses in Houston. Game 1 was not as bad because the Wolves made it a game from start to finish, but Game 2 was the exact opposite, in a contest that was a blowout.
No one expected Minnesota to come in and win this series, or even a game for that matter. But, after a great Game 3 win, the series was close at 2-1 and you could sense a feel of hope. That is, if Minnesota came out strong in Game 4.
Game 4 rolled around and the Wolves looked good early on. It was an up-and-down battle all the way through the first half. Then came the third quarter, and when the Rockets plugged in top MVP candidate James Harden, Minnesota had a half of disaster on its hands.
The Rockets came out firing and ended the hopes of a possible game-tying series victory with a historic 50-point quarter to put the game out of reach. The once electric Target Center turned into a quiet arena with no energy — including the team.
Minnesota will be heading to Houston for an elimination game. The odds don’t look to be in the Wolves’ favor now with the series being 3-1. Now add in the fact that Game 5 is on the road and that they don’t have any ounce of ability to contend with the Rockets from 3.
Here’s a look at three takeaways from the decisive Game 4 loss.
