The San Antonio Spurs faced the Golden State Warriors in an elimination Game 4 at home, taking the win to avoid the first round sweep.

There are many times in the season NBA teams face back-to-the-wall moments. Whether it is to qualify for the playoffs or simply facing a team who has your number, it all counts. However, in terms of back-to-the-wall moments in the NBA, the San Antonio Spurs faced the biggest one of the season.

Going down 0-3 in a best-of-seven series against the Golden State Warriors, one of the most talented teams ever assembled on a basketball court, is daunting. Lose Game 4 and you are watching the rest of the season, simple as that. However, there were even more factors impacting this game.

The three losses had been by double figures each time and the team’s best player was still sidelined. The entire Spurs organization has been rocked earlier in the week by the passing of Erin Popovich. This also meant that one of the best coaches in the history of the association was not helping from the sidelines. (We are still keeping you and your family in ours thoughts and prayers, Gregg.)

In terms of mountains, this one was bigger than Everest. However, the players climbed it and grabbed the win on Sunday. This begins our three takeaways from Game 4.
