Sacramento Kings: Top 10 moments from 2017-18 NBA season
3. Zach Randolph’s 35 points and 13 rebounds leads Kings to overtime win over Pelicans
Vince Carter and Garrett Temple had big nights for the Kings in 2017-18. However, Dec. 8, 2017, was the biggest night of all from a Kings veteran.
Zach Randolph went at it with New Orleans Pelicans center and former King, DeMarcus Cousins, in one of the most ferocious big man duels of the NBA season. The final result of the duel was too close to call. Cousins finished with 38 points on 30 shots and 11 rebounds. Meanwhile, Randolph came away with 35 points on 22 shots and 13 rebounds. Z-Bo went 5-for-9 from beyond the arc while Cousins went 4-for-10.
In the end, though, the Kings picked up the 116-109 victory over the Pels in an overtime thriller. Randolph’s 35 was the most by a King in 2017-18. His five made 3-pointers were a personal season high, and tied for fifth-most in a game by a King this season.
Zach Randolph averaged 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds a game in 2017-18, shooting 47.3 percent from the field. His 34.7 percent shooting from long range was the second-best mark of his career, doing so on a career-high 2.5 attempts per game.
Needless to say, he showed he can still produce in the NBA. When he faced off against one of the league’s elite bigs – and a former King at that – Randolph unsurprisingly didn’t back down. As a result, he put on his best show of the year.
