5. Kings blow out Cavaliers behind Vince Carter’s season-high 24 points

The young players did a lot of great things in Sacramento. However, that doesn’t mean the veterans didn’t have their share of big nights.

On Dec. 27, 2017, Vince Carter broke out a vintage performance by scoring 24 points in the Kings’ 109-95 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Sacramento lost big at the Los Angeles Clippers 122-95 the previous night, so they came into this game looking to right the ship.

They did just that, holding the Cavs to 43.2 percent shooting on the night. In return, Sacramento hit 51.9 percent of its attempts and went 40.0 percent from distance.

Carter led the charge, coming off the bench to drop 24 points on 10-for-12 shooting from the field. It was his first double-digit scoring night of the season, and his first of only two 20-point games in 2017-18.

As a 40-year-old scoring at least 24 points, he found himself in good company alongside Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. VC also added five rebounds, three assists, a steal and a block to his stat line.

Vince Carter came to Sacramento with the intention of handing down knowledge to the younger generation. However, he wasn’t afraid to put up buckets when the team called upon him to do so.
