6. Kings beat the Heat with De’Aaron Fox put-back dunk

We already covered the willingness of the Kings’ young players to take the shot in the clutch. However, this game-winner from Jan. 25 was probably the most exciting of them all.

In the midst of a six-game road trip, Sacramento found itself in a slugfest with the Miami Heat. The game was only 88-87, Miami, with 21 seconds left in regulation. The Kings had the ball out of the timeout with the chance to take the lead.

Bogdan Bogdanovic had the ball in his hands with under 10 seconds remaining, hoping to make something happen. Miami held up its reputation as a staunch defensive team, and Bogdanovic was forced to put up a contested fall-away mid-range jumper.

The shot hit iron and was on its way out, but De’Aaron Fox skied in for the put-back slam to give Sacramento the 89-88 lead with 3.3 seconds left. Miami couldn’t respond on the other end as Josh Richardson missed a contested mid-range jumper of his own. The Kings pulled out another win, their second of what would be a 3-3 road trip.

Game-winning shots are always fun, but they aren’t always alike. On this night, rookie De’Aaron Fox had to go up and get the ball for Sacramento to clinch the W.
