8. Three Kings represent at Rising Stars Challenge, Bogdanovic wins MVP

The Rising Stars Challenge on the Friday of All-Star Weekend is always exciting because it showcases the stars of tomorrow doing awesome things today. However, that excitement was ratcheted up for fans in Sacramento.

Three Kings occupied roster slots on the two teams. Serbian Bogdan Bogdanovic and Bahamanian Buddy Hield represented Team World, while Houston native De’Aaron Fox earned a spot on Team USA.

Fox came off the bench for Team USA. He finished with a modest four points on 2-for-6 shooting, chipping in two rebounds, two assists and a steal. Hield started for Team World and came away with a team-high 29 points, shooting 12-for-22 from the field and 5-for-14 from beyond the arc. He also had three rebounds, three assists and two steals.

But the man of the night was Bogdanovic. He came off of the bench and ended the night with 26 points, going 9-for-16 from the field and 7-for-13 from 3-point range. He also added six assists, four rebounds and a steal to his ledger. That was good enough for MVP honors, as he helped Team World push past Team USA, 155-124.

It has to be big for Kings fans to see three of their team’s young players represented in the Rising Stars Challenge. That has to go to another level when two of them account for 32.9 percent of the winning team’s points and one of them comes away with MVP. If that isn’t a sign the youth movement is alive in Sacramento, I don’t know what is.
