Washington Wizards: 3 takeaways from Game 3 vs. Raptors
2. Defense rules the day for the Wizards
The Washington Wizards set the tone from beginning to end on the defensive side of the ball. After all, for the first game all series, Washington held Toronto below 50 percent shooting from the floor as a team.
The Raptors also had 18 turnovers on Friday night with point guard Kyle Lowry owning five of those. The Wizards were able to turn their turnovers into points as well. They had 21 fast break points in Game 3, compared to 10 points in Game 1 and 14 in Game 2.
Defense and pace were the difference in this game as John Wall did his best to control things with the help of Kelly Oubre Jr. and Mike Scott off the bench. Oubre and Scott finished with 12 points apiece. Oubre had two blocks and Scott was 2-for-2 from 3-point range, showing that he can hit the big shots when given the opportunity.
The Wizards have to keep the momentum going heading into the next game. They are a team that can have anybody step up on any given night. They just need to be ready to play and control the game on the defensive end.
