3. Dirk scores 31,000 career points

Surpassing 50,000 minutes wasn’t the only milestone that Dirk Nowitzki put under his belt in 2017-18. He also surpassed 31,000 career points this past March, against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Nowitzki became the sixth player in NBA history to score 31,000 points and he’s still going.

On a shot with just about eight minutes left in the second quarter, Dirk shot his patented fadeaway with his trademark leg kick. It is a shot fans have come to know and love while players have come to respect it in the same breath.

They ended up losing in the end, 111-110 in overtime, but it was still a night worth discussing Dirk’s accolades. Nowitzki finished the game with 12 points. Last season, Nowitzki joined the 30,000 point club and this season was no different as he and Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James are the only active players on the top 10 all-time career scoring list.

Nowitzki is currently sixth all time on the NBA’s career scoring list with 31,187 points. He has an opportunity to pass a few more players in his 21st year next season, which should be fun to witness.
