2. Dennis Smith Jr. goes for a career-high 27 points

The Dallas Mavericks beat the San Antonio Spurs once in their four meetings during the regular season and also got a career game from Dennis Smith Jr. On Nov. 14 against the Spurs, Smith went for a career-high 27 points, showing that no matter the opponent, he is always ready to play.

Smith shot 10-for-23 from the field but 5-for-11 from 3-point range in the game. It was one of only two games this season where he made five 3-pointers. The other game just so happened to come against New Orleans, when he had his triple-double.

Smith had six rebounds and two assists in the game but he also had six turnovers, which probably didn’t help, given the outcome. They ended up losing the contest 97-91 and finished the game with 15 turnovers as a team.

The Mavericks didn’t get the victory, but they showed why Smith is their point guard of the future. He had a number of big plays along with some thunderous dunks to show his potential as a franchise player in the West.
