The Dallas Mavericks didn’t have the greatest 2017-18 season, but there were still some top moments that made the year worthwhile.

The Dallas Mavericks finished the 2017-18 regular season with a 24-58 record. It was their lack of offense rather than defense that led them down such a treacherous path this season. They ranked 28th in the NBA in points per game (102.3) while ranking 12th in opponent points per game (105.4).

Granted, Dallas was hit with the injury bug in the first game of the year as Seth Curry went down with a season-ending injury. After that, it was a snowball effect as the Mavericks didn’t get their first win until the fifth game of the season.

On a more positive note, rookie point guard Dennis Smith Jr. has a bright future ahead of him. Smith had a spectacular rookie campaign and wowed the fans with his athleticism in this year’s Slam Dunk Contest. All in all, the Mavericks look to be in good hands with Smith as their floor general.

Future Hall-of-Famer Dirk Nowitzki had a down year but he still managed to set some career marks in his 20th season in the NBA. He has already announced he’ll be back for his 21st season in 2018-19.

Harrison Barnes had his rough patches throughout the season as he’s adjusting in his second year with the Mavericks. He didn’t quite have a breakout performance, but there’s hope. He showed flashes of his potential, but Dallas will need more from him if it hopes to move forward as an organization. Here’s a look at this season’s top 10 moments.
