Phoenix Suns: Top 10 moments from 2017-18 NBA season
3. Grizzlies game-winner
It came a day late, but the Suns were able to supply their fans with one Christmas gift in an exhilarating home win that came down to the wire. With the score knotted at 97 and only 0.6 seconds on the clock, overtime seemed inevitable.
Like the Marquese Chriss block, Tyson Chandler’s game-winning dunk over the Memphis Grizzlies came on a night where Devin Booker was the key performer, leading the way with 32 points, six assists and five rebounds.
Even so, Tyson’s dunk over poor Brandan Wright was not only the most memorable play of the game, but also educational for the NBA audience at large.
With Dragan Bender inbounding near half-court, Triano instructed his young power forward to throw the ball as close to the rim as possible for Chandler to go up and get it, because according to NBA rules, an inbounds pass of that nature cannot draw offensive interference.
As such, Chandler was able to pluck the ball out of midair — even as it was sailing toward the basket — and slam it home. A normal shot would’ve drawn a goaltending call, but this was a perfectly legal and satisfying end to the game. Well, minus the giant push-off, but still.

Tyson Chandler’s time in Phoenix certainly won’t be what anyone remembers from his 17-year career, but this game-winning alley-oop — and the ensuing chest-pounding that went with it — should show up somewhere on the highlight reel.
