Phoenix Suns: Top 10 moments from 2017-18 NBA season
7. Jackson’s career high
From an impact standpoint, Josh Jackson had better games in 2017-18, including a couple where he nearly hit the 30-point threshold while also leading the Suns to a rare win.
However, even in a double-digit loss on St. Patty’s Day, Jackson’s career-high 36 points against the defending champs has to earn a place in the top 10, if only because he did it with no Devin Booker while coming off the bench.
At this point in the season, Suns fans were already pretty numb. Watching Jackson tally a new career high on 14-of-23 shooting, including six rebounds, four assists and two steals against the Golden State Warriors made the 15-point loss a bit more bearable.
Basically, this was one of the crown jewels in Jackson’s turnaround from 2017 to 2018:
- 2017 Josh Jackson: 38 GP, 21.6 MPG, 9.0 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.1 APG, 1.0 SPG, 0.3 BPG, .378/.239/.564 shooting splits
- 2018 Josh Jackson: 39 GP, 29.2 MPG, 17.2 PPG, 5.6 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.1 SPG, 0.6 BPG, .440/.279/.685 shooting splits
No one knew it at the time, but this was the first game Booker would miss in a stretch that would ultimately sideline him for the rest of the year. Jackson made sure the miserable task of watching Phoenix without Book was a little less miserable.
