10. Quality draft night
The unofficial start to the offseason is the NBA Draft, and the Grizzlies went into the 2017 NBA Draft without any draft picks. But the team felt it needed youth, and sent away some future picks to acquire selections in the 2017 draft. The result of the moves was that the Grizzlies ended up with Ivan Rabb and Dillon Brooks.
We will have more on these two later, but the important part here is that the Grizzlies got two young, talented, cost-controlled players. It stinks to lose future picks, but the Grizz were desperate for the talent now, so walking away with a guy who was considered a lottery pick just one year ago in Rabb and a talented all-around wing in Brooks was a home run that kicked off the season just right for Memphis.
