4. Revenge victory

Whenever a superstar returns to the city for the first time after leaving the previous offseason, the game is always filled with intrigue. The player is motivated to not only get a win but to be the main contributor to that victory, showing the fans he once called his own that he’s much better off on his new team.

The opposing team is also motivated to come out on top, as they want to show said player they no longer require his services on the basketball court.

When Chris Paul returned to Los Angeles for the first time since leaving in free agency, tensions ran high as the Clippers won 113-102, led by Blake Griffin’s 29 points and 10 rebounds.

Paul had a fairly pedestrian game, scoring 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting along with seven assists, and one could tell he was frustrated about not picking up the victory in his return.

For a Clippers team that got the raw end of the deal, beating Paul was the ultimate revenge after many doubted their ability to compete once the future Hall-of-Famer left for greener pastures over the summer.
