6. D’Angelo Russell scorches with seven 3s in a quarter

Glimpses of greatness are all the Nets could ask for from their roster this season, and on March 13, a luminous snippet of promise was given to fans. DLo ripped twine for seven — that’s right, seven — 3-pointers in just one quarter against the Toronto Raptors:

Evidence of the Nets’ shortcomings from beyond the arc populates every medium. But if an initiator like Russell can get hot, it can have a domino effect on opening up the rest of the offense.

As the main facilitator for the Nets’ attack, Russell will need to force defenses to respect the 3-point line. The best point guards in the league are those who can shoot the 3 effectively, and showings like this will make him tough to guard.

Performing like this against a great team like Toronto is no small feat either, as Kyle Lowry is one of the best defensive guards in the league. More performances like this in a 3-point centric attack can only bolster the team’s performance.
