7. Jarrett Allen ends a rookie’s career

This is not a typo. Against the Chicago Bulls on Feb. 26, first-year big man Lauri Markkanen was officially revoked of his duties as an NBA player at the hands of fellow rookie Jarrett Allen.

Among many things Allen does well, such as protect the rim, block off passing lanes with length, and finish well in the pick-and-roll, Allen added a new tool to his bag of tricks on this night: execution.

Markkanen spent several games away from the team following his demise, which the NBA covered up by accusing the Bulls of losing on purpose. Rubbish. The Bulls must now build around Kris Dunn and Zach LaVine.

The NBA should be wary of how many victims Allen takes. Markkanen will not be the last, especially as the Nets add more consistent shooters around him. Seeing Allen develop into a Clint Capela archetype is not too outrageous considering the flashes he showed throughout the season. This was one of those brilliant flashes.
