3. The Wizards bench stepped up

The Washington Wizards’ bench put together a masterful performance in Game 2. It’s something for them to build on as depth has long been an issue for them. Now, it’s become an issue of the past as Mike Scott, Ty Lawson, Kelly Oubre Jr., Tomas Satoransky and Ian Mahinmi are prime for big minutes going forward.

Scott led the bench with 20 points along with 4-of-5 made 3-pointers on Tuesday night. He’s arguably been the best player for the Wizards down the stretch and it showed as he played 27 minutes in Game 2.

Oubre put up 14 points and five rebounds in 30 minutes of action. He played well offensively but defensively, he’s still coming along. Mahinmi was 4-for-4 from the field and 4-for-5 from the free throw line in just 15 minutes of play. He finished the game with 12 points and three rebounds. He’s been another player that’s been up and down this season, but his recent outings show he may be ready for more minutes.

Lawson and Satoransky are the wild cards of the group. The most interesting part from the game on Tuesday night was Lawson played 31 minutes while Satoransky played roughly 15 minutes. Both turned in solid performances. Lawson made four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points along with eight assists. Satoransky had 12 points, four rebounds and an assist.

Given how well the bench has played, they could see all their minutes go up going forward.
