2. Bismack Biyombo

Somehow, center Bismack Biyombo has been even worse than advertised, and he wasn’t even that highly thought of to begin with.

Being the joint highest earner on this team at $17 million a season, you would expect him to do the few things that he can do on a basketball court at a high level — namely, protect the rim and be a force defensively.

Yet somehow, the Magic allowed a ridiculous 110.4 points per 100 possessions when he was on the court. Not only was that the worst mark of Biyombo’s career, it was also more points allowed than notable defensive sieve Nikola Vucevic (106.5).

Given that Biyombo has essentially no offensive game (the team averaged 97.2 points per 100 possessions when he was on the court), defending to a high standard is really all that he’s got.

He means well and tries hard, and to his credit he can set a mean screen. But the team has to get more out of him than that.

Biyombo only played 18.2 minutes per game as the emergence of Khem Birch curtailed his involvement even more, and the 5.7 rebounds he grabbed per game represented the second-lowest mark of his seven-year career.

The team is stuck with him, and he has given Orlando nothing as the tandem of Birch and Isaac looks to be the defensive partnership that will take the defense to the places it needs to go.

The bar was set low, and yet Biyombo still came in underneath it as one of the most disappointing parts of the season. It is hard to see how it will get any better moving forward.
