Following a commanding win in Game 1, here are three takeaways for the Philadelphia 76ers after their Game 2 loss to the Miami Heat.
It went from one extreme to another for the Philadelphia 76ers in their Game 2 loss to the Miami Heat.
After nailing 18 3-pointers at a scorching 64.3 percent clip in Game 1, the Sixers hit just 7-of-36 from long range in Game 2, falling 113-103 to the Heat.
Giving up a franchise-high 130 points in Game 1, the Heat were far from representative of the franchise that prides itself on the defensive end of the floor. As a result, Miami clamped down in Game 2 and the Sixers were never able to get into a flow offensively, as evidenced by their shooting from long distance.
The Sixers were led by Ben Simmons, who posted 24 points, nine rebounds and eight assists. While his numbers across the board were terrific, Simmons had nowhere near the impact he imparted on Game 1 due to the Heat’s frequent full-court pressing of him from start to finish.
In addition to Simmons, forward Dario Saric had 23 points, nine rebounds and four steals, while Marco Belinelli contributed 16 points off the bench.
For the Heat, veteran guard Dwyane Wade led the way with 28 points and seven rebounds, including 21 points in the first half. Additionally, Goran Dragic posted 20 points, while James Johnson added 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
With two full days off for the Sixers prior to Game 3 in Miami, here are three major takeaways from Game 2.
