1. KP’s health

This cannot be understated. Making sure Porzingis comes back fully healthy should be the No. 1 goal for the Knicks, because goals 2-5 won’t matter if KP comes back a lesser version than before.

With Dirk Nowitzki-like potential on offense and Rudy Golbert-like shot-blocking ability, Porzingis has the chance to be the type of player the league has never seen before. A unicorn, if you will.

If the Knicks hope to go anywhere in the future, it all hinges on KP’s left knee.

The recovery stories of players with torn ACL’s is littered with both hits and misses. From guys like Derrick Rose to Jabari Parker, there’s no guarantee a player fully recovers from this gruesome injury.

At a certain point, there is only so much the Knicks organization can do. After all, Porzingis will most likely have a personal trainer aiding him in his recovery process, more so than the Knicks training staff, but whatever the team can do, it should do.

Keep him out longer than expected? Do it.

Allow his personal trainer into the inner sanctum of Madison Square Garden? Don’t even give it a second thought.

Every single pipe dream involving an NBA championship in New York begins with the unicorn. If the Knicks front office shares in those dreams, they’ll do everything possible to make sure Porzingis makes a full recovery for what is sure to be a long and prosperous career.
