Washington Wizards: 5 keys to series vs. Raptors
4. Finish the fourth quarter
The Wizards must finish games, especially fourth quarters, if they hope to have a chance in this series. Their biggest Achilles heel during the regular season was holding onto leads down the stretch. Their offensive rating dropped to 104.1 in the final quarter during the regular season, 25th in the league.
The Wizards posted a defensive rating of 108.3 during the regular season in the fourth quarter, 22nd-best in the NBA. The Raptors, on the other hand, turned in a defensive rating of 99.8 in the final frame, first in the league.
Washington will need to have an increased focus, particularly with their rotations, if it wants to keep up with the Raptors. Granted, they will have some adjustments to make with working John Wall back into the rotation, but that’s what Tomas Satoransky is there for.
Satoransky played well in Wall’s absence, averaging 10.4 points, 5.8 assists, 4.4 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game as in 30 starts. They Wizards will need all the playmaking they can get against a stingy Toronto defense, that’s for sure.
