5. Jay Wright

The Knicks are not going to leave any stone unturned during this coaching search. According to Ian Begley of ESPN New York, they are going to have an open search, including college coaches.

If that is true, why not aim for the moon when it comes to college coaches and try their hand with Jay Wright? The Villanova head coach has quickly moved up the college ranks in recent years, showcasing the acumen of one of the best coaches currently in the nation. If he continues leading Villanova to the success they have had in recent seasons, he could go down as one of the greatest college coaches of all-time.

Wright has been at Villanova since the 2001-02 season, compiling a record of 422-165. He has led the Wildcats to three final fours and two NCAA championships during that time. Wright has won his conference tournament three times and has been regular season conference champion five times.

Convincing Wright to leave Villanova will not be an easy task. The program has developed into one of the most consistently dominant teams in the nation. They have taken home the title in two of the past three years. His wife, Patty, is also a graduate of Villanova.

Wright leaving Villanova is unlikely, but there is nothing wrong with doing your due diligence.
