Houston Rockets: 5 keys to series vs. Timberwolves
3. Get Wiggins to force shots
According to Bleacher Report, Andrew Wiggins is upset with his role behind Karl-Anthony Towns. When you look at his regression in this, his fourth season, it is clear that he is hungry to score the ball more.
He went from taking 19.1 field goal attempts per game last year to 15.9 per game this season, and his scoring average is down by nearly six points.
Wiggins comes from a family of professional athletes, and knows good and well that the playoffs are his opportunity to solidify his brand across the nation. He is definitely a candidate to try and play hero, especially if games start slipping from Minnesota’s grasp.
If the Rockets can once again apply key wing pressure to Wiggins, he can be baited into taking shots just to get his numbers. If they can do that, they can waste key possessions and once again limit the Wolves’ offensive weapons.
