4. New direction, new coach?

When Doc Rivers was brought in to coach the Clippers in the summer of 2013, LA was contending for a title with a roster headlined by All-Stars Chris Paul and Blake Griffin.

With both Paul and Griffin shipped out of L.A. in the span of 10 months, the Clippers have vastly changed their trajectory, setting their eyes on the future with a rebuild in mind.

While Rivers is still one of the best head coaches the NBA has to offer, his win-now style doesn’t exactly fit the long game the Clippers are trying to execute.

With a few youngsters on the roster and more on the way, L.A. would be better off obtaining a coach who specializes in player development, someone capable of maximizing talents. Mark Jackson is a name that comes to mind, as he was the one who orchestrated the beginning of the Golden State Warriors dynasty we see today.

Doc was brought in to help this team contend for championships. That goal hasn’t changed, but the timeline has, and with a total roster overhaul, L.A. should be looking for a coach who can lead the team into a new era of Clippers basketball.
