5. Wayne Ellington, SG, Miami Heat (Unrestricted)

This one may seem a little unorthodox in terms of a “dream” target, but Wayne Ellington is an intriguing name to consider this offseason. Over the past two seasons, he’s quietly developed into one of the NBA’s most underrated scorers.

In 2017-18, he’s asserted himself a dynamic presence off the bench for the Miami Heat. He’s currently in the top five in 3-point shots made, and is connecting on 38.7 percent of his attempts from downtown. Although he’s only averaging 11.1 points per game and mainly contributes in the scoring department, Ellington is going to entice suitors as a dead-eye sixth man.

What’s better is he shouldn’t cost an arm and a leg to sign. Sure, he’s going to be expecting a raise from the $6.2 million he made this season. Still, he’s a long range specialist who hasn’t proven himself as a volume shooter.

Especially with J.J. Redick headed back to the market in 2018, the 76ers may need a new sharpshooter. Ellington could slide into the starting 2-guard spot in place of Redick, or step into a starring role within the second unit.

Signing him wouldn’t be as exciting as some of the other names on this list. However, if the 76ers could land Ellington come July, I think it would be money well spent. He’s younger than Redick, and sports similar effectiveness from beyond the arc.
