Marvin Bagley III: 2018 NBA Draft player profile
By Connor Harr
Overall outlook
Offensively, Bagley is going to be a mystery. He will run the floor, excel in transition and get a few hustle points per game off put-backs and loose balls. The rest of his offensive game, though, depends on the development on his jump shot, handle and being able to use his right hand.
If Bagley can develop into a respectable shooter and become a player that it’s necessary to close out on, he could be well on his way to becoming a very good offensive NBA player.
Defensively is where teams and NBA executives should be concerned when drafting Bagley. His in ability to defend and lack of defensive IQ are very serious problems. This is one of the main reasons Bagley is viewed by people to be a fit-dependent prospect.
He still has a slight frame and only a positive two-inch wingspan at seven feet. He is not a rim protector at all, averaging less than a block a game at Duke. So it should be valuable to pair Marvin Bagley with a rim protector, and hopefully his team can try to hide him on defense until he develops.

After diving deep into some Marvin Bagley III film, I came away less impressed than I originally was. His overall athletic ability, offensive potential and rebounding are encouraging signs that make him a top-five pick regardless of any flaws in his current game. However, if he does not figure out how to defend, will he score enough to be able to stay on the court?
