Chicago Bulls guards Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn will miss the rest of the 2017-18 season. Here’s a look at the notable takeaways from this recent development.

The Chicago Bulls are entering the home stretch of their 2017-18 campaign. Aside from the seven-game winning streak that accounted for nearly a third of the team’s 26 victories, the Bulls have been tough to watch for a majority of the season.

Even with a 113-94 win over the Washington Wizards this past Sunday — which marked the first time the Bulls have won consecutive games dating back to mid-January — that trend will more than likely continue.

With just five games remaining on the schedule, and little to play for aside from possibly positioning themselves for a higher draft selection in the upcoming NBA Draft, the Bulls have decided to shut down both Zach LaVine and Kris Dunn for the remainder of the season, according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune.

Although Zach LaVine didn’t make his debut until January and Kris Dunn was coming off a rather forgettable rookie campaign with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season, both players were considered integral parts of last year’s offseason trade that sent Jimmy Butler to the Twin Cities.

Now, with two of their core players in street clothes down the stretch, here’s a look at the most notable takeaways for the rest of the season.
