Overachiever: Karl-Anthony Towns, Minnesota Timberwolves

Fifty-six points. That’s the Minnesota Timberwolves‘ new franchise record for most points scored in a game set by budding superstar Karl-Anthony Towns. The third-year big man was spectacular in Minnesota’s 126-114 victory over the Atlanta Hawks as he put up 56 points, grabbed 15 rebounds and also dished out four assists.

KAT has been superb for the Timberwolves this season as they look to end a playoff drought of their own. Minnesota hasn’t made the NBA Playoffs since 2004, but that’s all about to change thanks to Towns.

He’s averaging 21.2 points, 12.2 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.5 blocks per game this season. Not only has his game expanded, but he’s also recorded a career-high 63 double-doubles and counting in 2017-18.

KAT showed off his abilities on both the inside and outside in his 56-point performance. He shot 19-of-32 from the field and 6-for-8 from 3-point range. He’s shooting a career-high 43.8 percent from 3-point land this year.

He’s peaking at just the right time for the Timberwolves as they continue to push toward a playoff berth. They’re heading in the right direction at 43-33, currently seventh in the West.
